Day 8: Tuesday, Oct 8
Drive to Alsace through the Vosges Mountains (~350 kms
Enjoy a delightful breakfast at the Abbaye. We will depart for the Alsace wine region after breakfast.
Today’s drive will take us through the Vosges Mountains, a range of fairly low mountains in the eastern part of France that borders Germany. We will stop for lunch at a local farm at the Marksteinsummit where we will feast on locally harvested produce and explore a typical Alsatian farm. After our delightful lunch, we will continue our drive to our next hotel, the Château d’Isenbourg.
Poised high on a hill, overlooking the medieval city of Rouffach, Château d’Isenbourg is a stunning Château hotel and renowned gastronomic stopover on the Alsace wine route offering panoramic views of the Rhine Plain and the Black Forest.
Late afternoon, we board our motor coach and head south to the lovely village of Riquewhir. A popular tourist attraction known for its historical architecture, Riquewhir is also known for the Riesling and other great wines produced in the village. Riquewhir looks today more or less, as it did in the 16th century.
After exploring for a while, we will celebrate an Alsace Wine Tasting followed by a delightful dinner at a “Winstub” called “Le Tire Bouchon”.

The PHOTO RALLY will end in Mulhouse at the “Bugatti Museum”.
After lunch, we will continue our drive along the green and soothingly beautiful Route des Vins d’Alsace (Alsace Wine Route), one of France’s most evocative drives. Vines march up the hillsides to castle-topped crags and the mist-enshrouded Vosges Mountains. After lunch, you will drive back to Château d’lsenbourg on your own . . . just follow your navigation.
We will get together at 6:30pm for a special Aperitif with typical wines from the Alsace region followed by a spectacular Farewell & Rally Dinner at “les Tommeries” restaurant in the Château and taste some of the delicious Alsatian wines with valuable prices.
