Back in the 1950s, Porsche Club of America members began making treks to Germany to visit the factory and see Porsches in their native habitat, calling it a “Tref- fen,” or get-together, in German…
…Starting in 1976, native Austrian and PORSCHE fan Peter Sontag restarted the tradition… It was a rousing success, operating under his company Fast Lane Travel, and has been going ever since.
…It’s my contention that every PORSCHE lover must go on a Treffen once, with a few of us kooky enough to make multiple trips… Peter has said about 40% of Treffen-goers are repeat customers, so it’s quite obvious people are really pleased…
…So what does a Treffen entail? It’s pretty simple… The package is inclusive — Once you buy the airline ticket, Fast Lane Travel takes care of the rest, lodging, food, drink, hotels, Porsches to drive, insurance, fuel, et al.

Porsche has little choice but to sell its sports car business to Volkswagen… according to recent Reuters article.

Fast Lane Travel awarded a second TREFFEN™ trip prize to Stuttgart, Germanyduring the Friday night Victory banquet, August 5th, taking place during the 2011 PORSCHE Parade. The second winner, Jeff DeRoos is from Beaverton, Oregon.
The Parade this year attracted some 1,600 people and 750 cars. The PORSCHE Club of America, boasts of 114,000 members. The Porsches that made the trip included a Carrera GT, which cost some $650,000 and can top 200 mph.
Jeff DeRoos, Happy Treffen Trip Winner #2, hails from Oregon.

The excited winner was Jenni Gratien, from Chittenango New York. Jenni’s mother won the trip last year at the annual Parade event.
