Treffen Planning Thoughts

By

Beginning with pre-Treffen planning, have you thought about which Porsche you’d like to drive?

Reserving cars is a first-come, first-serve system, so figure out what you’d like, and place your requests early, so hopefully PORSCHE will have a car close to what you’d like.  Define a first, second, and third choice.  Decide if you’d like a traditional manual, or Porsche’s new PDK transmission.

Do you want to be able to drop the top, or feel snug in a coupe?  Peter’s favorite is the new Panamera – he thinks it’s the best Porsche ever.  Perhaps it is worth a try!

Allow me to share my first experience… I sent Peter a wish list, almost as if I was configuring a car from Porsche’s web site – though I didn’t specify color (hey, I’m picky, but not that picky.)  Peter said it was the most detailed request he’d ever seen in 30 years!

I knew I wouldn’t get everything, and I didn’t, but the amazing part was how close Peter came.  The chief difference was I asked for a coupe, thinking it best for the Autobahn, but only a 911 Cabriolet had the other items I desired (PCCB brakes, 6 speed, adaptive sport sets, et al.)

While my U.S. Porsche has a drop-top, I thought I wanted a coupe for Germany. Happily I was wrong.  The Cabriolet was equally at home on the Autobahn as well as on the back roads of Bavaria.  Driving through countryside (think of the motorcycle chase scenery in The Great Escape, minus Steve McQueen and barbed wire) with the top down, watching the grey German cows with their blue eyes and dinging cowbells, well, life doesn’t get much better than that.

So even if you don’t get your first choice, your outcome may be even better than you thought!
